{visit lucky duck press}
There's so much to love about Lucky Duck press, the name for one already makes you feel special for choosing their services. The proprieter and artist 8-Patrick Barrett also seems to have his finger on the pulse of what a modern lass like myself might want in letterpress correspondence. Something that would make the receiver feel like I really took my time to find the perfect flat. 'The bee's knee's' telegraphic dispatch would surely fit the bill, who wouldn't want to receive this?
Patrick comes from a long line of successful printers, in 2001 (one hundred years after his great-grandfather opened his first print shop) Patrick brought some of his lead type and a hand press to Brooklyn and Lucky Duck Press was born. He now works primarily on his foot-powered 1889 Golding Pearl Old Style No. 3 and the 1905 Golding Official No. 9 hand press, creating note cards, wedding invitations, announcements, holiday cards, personal or business stationary, and other custom items. If you haven't visited Patrick's store and need some new business cards he has an incredible offer of $40 for custom letterpress business/calling cards--$40! That's like 1901 pricing...It's unheard of in the land of letterpress and he uses gorgeous 100% cotton, 110 lb cardstock. For those that are die hard paper and letterpress fanatics this should have you drooling...
To win artist 8, Lucky Duck press, set of 10 hand-printed 'bee's knee's flats. Please answer the following question:
"If you could inherit anything from a relative be it close, distant or made up (some of us need to make up our relatives), what would it be?"
OR
"Have you inherited something incredible from a relative, if so what?"
You have until next Sunday evening, we will announce the winner on Monday, 02.16.09.
Thank you to the following 'bright siders' for mentioning the project, thus in my humble opinion spreading more joy. I want as many people as possible to be able to participate in this project and play along and of course I want all the artists to get as much exposure as I can possibly get them, because they did this without a catch, without a 'hey toots can I see your stats?', without anything but a collective agreement that things are a little tough right now and yes, it would be great to help people look on the bright side. For that selfless act alone, I urge you to spread the word of the project it's a win-win situation. Well, this is not all selfless. I must confess I am TRULY enjoying reading all your answers, you will never know how much brighter my days have been by all your honesty and love that you have shown in what you write. I am in tears almost every day, but in the best way possible, your answers are my prize and the contributors generosity makes my heart break (again in the best way possible).
Thank you to:
Artist 7, Jenni Penni. All the way from Finland and she's been kickin' butt and taking names...
IKOKOJOI, she did a 'stumble upon' on the project and we had a flurry of new visitors, so I thank you for taking the time to do this..
Tripholdingyourhand I love the title of this post:)
If you have mentioned the project and I have missed mentioning your post, please let me know and I will add you pronto. After all this project is for YOU..
