MODOFLY GIRL....

Hey, you still here?  I thought I may have grossed you totally out the door, but to my delight it looks as if I am not the only human in the world and others can share my pain (thank you for the comments)  At least I am not stepping in toddler poop like one of my other favorite bloggers is.  If you are a glutton for  bodily functions, mosey on over (warning do not drink and read as it is sure to spray through your nose.)

I would have put Bella to sleep, but then I would have to look at my husband to-be every time someone asked us why we did and then the whole 'incident' would be re-lived in slow motion for the rest of our days.  It's better just to pretend it never happened and get on with our happy, little existence.  Isn't that healthy?

So, enough of that, let me talk about this! I mentioned awhile ago that I was going to be doing a collaboration with a group called Modofly.  As I don't pay attention that much, I soon realized that I wasn't supposed to say anything. Sh*%&!  I noticed the rest of the artists were chomping at the bit to mention on their blogs and here I had written about it months ago.  Obviously, not only are these artists talented, they pay attention as well.  I sat in these virtual pow wow's biting my lower lip and praying no one found out.  So, when the time came to spread the word I kinda ignored the call of arms, as I kinda spilled the beans earlier.  I really, really want to spill the beans about what a guy who bought my design from Modofly is doing but I will wait because I will probably be flogged if I do tell and who wants that? NOT I.

So, if you are new to my blahg or don't pay much attention either, Modofly is, well, let them tell you:

Modo_info
Their medium is the laser and their support (what they laser on) is the uber cool Moleskine (you know, the notebook I can't afford).  I was surprised that I was included with all the talent they lined up.  These are artists that I truly admire, such as John W. Golden, his 'From the Management" series is really clever, perfect for the hipster parents:

There are so many more new artists that I got turned on to that have made me giddy with inspiration.  I love Marie-Louise Plum of Ink & Mess. Her name. Her company name. Her style. Her bio photo. So sassy:

You must check out the Modofly vibe, if you are an artist or are like me and just have a very powerful imagination, they are looking for new talent to highlight.  The guys that started it are brilliant in their own right (I swear I'm not saying that because they chose to work with me).  I mean, look at this description for my notebook:

The Elephant Trot

We all know about the elephant’s graveyard. What we didn’t realize is that elephants can cut a rug like nobody’s business! This beautiful piece by Tristan Brando a.k.a Bella Bella co. is more than just a beautiful piece of art and delves into an epistemic disclosure of the intimate graceful moments of the pachyderms.

I don't know about you, but I am pretty high on life about seeing some dancing elephants grace the legendary Moleskine (Thanks to Toi for the suggestion as I would never have the brain power to think of that myself) My elephants btw are experiencing their first taste of cyber stardom as they have been clicked on like crazy.  I am so very proud of them as the fame has not gone to their heads.  I on the other hand have quite the big noggin' and am hoping that I can sell enough to buy me this Modofly Moleskine:

I don't know why, but it reminds me of my bad dog...

MY NEW FAVORITE BLOG...

This little blog has stolen my heart.  It comes at a time when my heart is heavy with the demise of Polaroid.  My sadness is so real and much worse than when I heard about the demise of Gocco.  You see for years I have been documenting my travels and life via Polaroid.  It started (and this is so wacky), with a Gestalt photography workshop in Big Sur.  It's a looooooooong story, but it ended not with revelations about my psyche but a supreme passion for my instant camera.

Here's images from four year old Adie Fey's blog 'Adie Loves Polly', (Polly being the name of her Polaroid):

Adie's mum is the genius behind the photography studio Fiery Eyed a real talent she is and with the looks of it Adie is going to be too.

I LOVE MY MOMMY....

I really do!  My 'real' mum, my faux mum and my God Mum...There's a lot of love to be doled out. I have for years tried to research the best floral places in San Francisco when it's Mother's Day, Birthday's etc.  It's always taxing and it doesn't bode well with my need to control, ahem, the situation.  So, how delighted was I when Martha did the miraculous and added her panache to a steady if not outdated purveyor of flowers?  She actually did a segment on her show, which I of course being the sycophant that I am when it comes to Martha watched every minute of.  It was great because she showed her inspiration for her vases from her vast collection of vases, vessels and the like.  She really does have pretty impeccable taste and knows a lot about, well, a lot.  I am going to show you a  few of my fave's here, priced relatively not bad.  I mean much better than spending $80 on a bouquet from a mystery florist that is sure to have (cringe) baby's breath galore in it.  Okay, really now, my mom could care less, it's the gesture, but I am seriously going to be stealing, uhm, borrowing permanently one of these vases from her....

This might work as a cool pencil holder, I love me some new pencils.....

Lotus_pods

Those lotus pods are like little modern art sculptures and yes, I suppose a little Dr. Seuessian to boot....So, to finish up my infomercial, you can stop by her shop and order some for your mom, your best friend, yourself, etc....buy flowers here...

THE ONES WE LOVE....

I am always trying to keep myself creative, partly because I am prone to severe bouts of procrastination but can't just sit still and watch TV.  I have been wanting to improve my photography skills for some time, mainly so I can take better product shots for my shop.  I have been scouring the web and find that a lot of the photography info is pretty high brow and quite confusing, or maybe I am just dumb?

On my search I did find this amazing, inspiring and completely creative project called-The One's We Love.  It's a collective of photographers that submit photo's of people that they love.

The_ones_we_love_2

Besides the wonderfully moody photo's that are almost voyeuristic appeal to them, I love the little blurbs prior to opening up and viewing the images, here's one from a photographer that put a lump in my throat:

You can stop by and check out all the talent and best of all if you are truly inspired you can submit your images for consideration for the project.  You can visit the site here...

ARE YOUR LASHES LONGER, OR ARE YOU JUST HAPPY TO SEE ME...?

Revitalash_2 This blog isn't really a beauty blog per se, I mean we don't know what this blog really is anyway, it's an opportunity for me to get some things out of my brain and share with you my vast knowledge of nothing in particular.  So, even though I am officially considered one of America's 'working poor' (ouch) I do have my grubby little mitts on a product that is nearly a car payment and the worse part about it is I think this product really works!

Yes, I have lush lashes now, long, thick and dark.  I haven't worn mascara in weeks and when I do people always ask me if my eyelashes are extensions!  I'm not saying you'll get the same results but if you were lucky enough to get this as a gift (as I was) then by all means try it!  If for some reason you have a couple hundred dollars to spend you can pick it up here.   If you are a Beauty junkie and need further reason to procrastinate or ways to spend your hard earned or inherited dollars check out Miss Kelleys blog...

MAGIC IN THE AIR...

Il_430xn5953180This is one of my favorite new artists, her name is Kendra Binney, even her name has a magical lilt to it, don't you think?  She sells on her shop 4x4 pieces of her delicious artwork for a mere $17!

The hardest part for me has been which to buy?  I can't make up my mind and buying them all doesn't seem quite right, especially with my tightened purse strings these days.  Do check out her work because I have this feeling sooner than later she won't be so accessible and I'll have to say "I told you so..."

NOVEAU LURVE

Downey

I love a new invention as much as the next guy, especialy if it's pragmatic and helps me save valuable time and energy.  I would prefer it to be green, but we can't always have everything we want, eh?  This little diddy of an inventon is pretty damn amazing.  You spray the little bugger on to your wrinkled garments and shake out, hang.  A blink of an eye later they are wrinkle free.  Tough wrinkles you can use your hand to help smooth the process along.  I successfully got the wrinkles out of a thin cashmere t-shirt, a linen shirt dress all of my tissue cotton t's ( a nightmare of wrinkles, always) and the bed sheets.  It does smell a bit like Downey lite, but it's not offensive. This is the perfect in a pinch tool to a flawless wardrobe.  Get yourself some here.
